December 17. A special day for my little girl and me. It’s her sixth birthday. She’s excited and happy. I have been reflecting on her little short life and the gains and advances she has made.
Challenged physically, mentally and socially she worked hard to overcome the disadvantages she has. Has she beat them all? No. Will she ever? No. She has learned and will continue to learn to work around them.
We, on the other hand, as network marketers are presented with far less challenges. We limit ourselves, we limit the people in our organization and the people we haven’t even met yet.
My little girl didn’t know there were limitations on what she should have been able to do or not to do. She just tried and tried harder. She jumped in and sometimes cried, sometimes needed a hug, sometimes needed the applause and sometimes she needed nothing. She just did it.
We, on the other other hand, as network marketers think about what we need to do, talk ourselves out of it, convince ourselves it won’t work or just don’t believe we can do it.
Thankful my little girl didn’t operate that way. Thankfully she wasn’t surrounded by most network marketers. I, and the professionals she worked with, believed in her. Believed she could do it. There was no excuses. There was no thinking something through, talking herself out of it, convincing herself it wouldn’t work. She just did it.
How tragic we are our own worst enemy in network marketing.
I adopted her knowing there were going to be challenges. I walked into network marketing knowing there were going to be challenges. No child, no business comes without that. With either or both there can not be any limited thinking. With either or both my child’s entire future is at stake.
In Max Lucado’s Devotional Bible, he writes in a side comment, a short paragraph on adoption. My heart responds each time I read it.
Knowing the trouble you would be and the price He would pay,
He signed his name next to yours and changed your name to His
and took you home.
Your Abba adopted you
and He became your Father.
God adopted you simply because He wanted to.”
I chose to adopt knowing all that I knew. I chose to throw out all limiting beliefs . I chose to believe. And that has made all the difference.
To your success,
Joyce Penner

Joyce,
Just think… What if we, and the people we approach and sponsor, could revive that child-like nature of limitless bounds? We could view life abundantly with unlimited possibilities all easily within our grasp.
Oh, my, I think the space between my ears just grew.
I’m grinning big! Thank you!
RICK
It is all between the ears for sure. How we conquer our demons and the faster we do it “living life abundantly with unlimited possibilities” will happen.
Thanks for sharing! You are in inspiration to all of us.
Joyce,
Have you ever heard the phrase, “What we don’t know can’t hurt us”?
That is especially true of children. Unlike adults, they don’t “look” for trouble. They don’t expect obstacles, anticipate bumps in the road, or procede through life with caution. All the “what ifs” just don’t matter!
We, as network marketers, could benefit greatly by looking at our business through the eyes of a child.
Thank you for this awakening!
~Melanie
Thanks Joyce,
A great reminder… as we all have different challenges to overcome in our personal & business lives, I guess it’s that willingness to overcome without question that the kids have not forgotten.
A trip to Vietnam and Cambodia this past summer was a stark reminder for me of how truly fortunate we are.
Yours,
Ron
