Here it is. Bluntly put.
You either work to achieve your goals or you work to achieve someone else’s goals.
According to some stats out there – 97% of people do not write down, visualize, verbalize or create a plan to achieve their goals. Without those goals fixed and firm, you and your life will literally be the equivalent of a ship that has nobody at the wheel. Drifting with the current, responding to the circumstances around you.
Billionaire H. L. Hunt is quoted as saying “Decide exactly what it is you want. Most people never do that. Second, determine the price you are going to pay to get it and then resolve to pay that price.”
Many, many people have no idea how to set goals. No idea that the goals need to be so real they can touch, taste and feel exactly what they are striving for. The vague “Oh, I want to make some money so I can pay off my bills” is inadequate and will get you nowhere quickly. “I’m going to buy a new house or travel” won’t cut it.
You goals must be exact. You must be able to smell the salt in the air when you are on that cruise ship. You have to take the time to feel the ship rolling under your feet. Can you feel the sun warming your body and the caress of the wind against your face? Can you hear the ship’s bell or the seagulls or the slap of the water against the ship?
If you can’t, if you don’t take the time each and every day to feel, touch, taste and experience your goal, the drive isn’t strong enough to keep you going through anything.
Brian Tracy in his book Maximum Achievement wrote: “Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement.” Without those goals firmly in the forefront of your mind you will not pay the price to attain success.
It’s as simple as that. To put it bluntly work on your goals today. Tomorrow isn’t good enough. Not if you want success today.
To your success,
